Community diversity.

   Which forest is more diverse?
<P>
   Community  1  has  greater  species  diversity,  as  measured  by  two
   criteria:
<P>
<Li> species   richness   (the  number  of  different  species  in  the
community), and
<Li> relative  abundance (the proportion each species represents of the
total individuals in the community).
<P>
   The  two  communities  have the same species richness, but community 1
   has a more even distribution of relative abundance.
