Deficiency  warnings  from "smart" plants. Genetically modified plants
   can  signal an impending nutrient deficiency before irreparable damage
   or  stunting  occurs.  For  example,  the  research  plant Arabidopsis
   develops a blue color in response to an imminent phosphate deficiency.
